The political tension that has been continuing after the general election last year must be put to a stop immediately, MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said. While differences in opinion in a multi-ethnic society was inevitable, he pointed out that there was a need for mutual respect to avoid any form of confrontation. Liow said there were groups who thrived on the politics of hate and hatred for the government. Liow delivering his speech at the MCA AGM. They have gone beyond the limit. They give the people false hope that can trigger confusion and a chaotic situation, threatening social stability and the countrys administration, he said at the opening of the MCA 61st annual general assembly here on Sunday. Liow, who is also Transport Minister, said an increasingly tense situation in the country could only derailed the countrys move to a developed status by 2020. He said any form of extremism must also be stemmed, pointing out that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razaks firm stand against the Islamic State (IS) was a relief for the people because such form of extremism was a threat to Malaysia.
