The post new gutter project, which would have been the tear up the entire patio from back wall to frog pond to put in a drain pipe project......turned into the new rain barrel project. Kyther was eyeballing - and dreading - the tear up the patio project Good helper elf that I am, I suggested it become a rain barrel project.........after some consideration, he was in on the idea! Man did this save a massive hassle and mess!!!!! Ive wanted to have one of these for years, and this will serve to route water to the frog pond, which needs replenishing once in a while. Next on my rain barrel agenda is to get a couple of free-standing ones for the raised beds out near the wildflower field. Apparently, theres ones that accommodate massive cones - kind of like a oversized cone you see around pets after surgeries - that catch the water and direct it into the barrel. Im curious what those aesthetics would be (perhaps not so great??), but the idea of catching the rain for reuse has always been appealing to me.
