The pre-orientation program is a 3 day optional program being organized as part of the Orientation Program 2014. The Pre-Orientation Program is being organized to ensure a smooth transition of a student from home environment, to the campus environment. As part of the Pre-Orientation Program, a number of activities for the students, and their parents are being organized. Some of the activities of the Pre-Orientation Program include: An English Training Program for all students during the Pre-Orientation Program, organized by the British Council, where each student will get personalized attention course, custom made for IIT students, by the Professionals of British Council. A small book fair is being set up by world famous publishing houses like Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press etc. The students will be able to find books at highly subsidized rates here. An Aero-modelling workshop is being organized by AerotriX during the Pre-Orientation Program. However, as of now the number of students registering for this workshop has already exceeded the maximum cap and no further registrations for the same are being accepted any more. The Institute has a 1000m airstrip and multiple gliders which are used by the Flight Lab, IITK. The Institute is organizing free of cost gliding joyrides for students coming to the Pre-Orientation Program. Along with the above stated activities for students, the Pre-Orientation Program will also include official address by Dep. Director and Deans. Campus tours will also be organized for the parents. Students coming to the Pre-Orientation Program will have an added advantage of being able to approach Professors, seniors and institute authorities to get clarity about life at IITK. Some of the details about the Pre-Orientation Program are mentioned henceforth. A student along with 2 family members (and no more) will be given free of cost accommodation from 11th july 2014 to 14th July 2:00pm. All Parents will have to vacate these rooms on 14th afternoon. The Institute will provide Mattress, Pillow, Linen, 1 Bucket and 1 Mug to each family, which will be collected by institute authorities on 14th July 2:00pm. Parents who wish to stay further will have to look for hotel/lodge outside campus. The Parents can stay until 17th July, 2014. We strongly discourage the parents to staying back after 17th. On the evening of 14th July, 2014 the students will be given their final rooms by the Counselling Service. The students who haven’t been confirmed by the Counselling Service for the Pre-Orientation Program have to report on campus on 15th July – 16th July before 5:00pm. All students, allotted IITK seat have to be on campus from 16th July. -Counselling Service
