The price of having a deer processed has gotten out of reach for - TopicsExpress

The price of having a deer processed has gotten out of reach for my conscience to say it is worth the money. I purchased a grinder and paid for it in one season what I would have normally spent on processing fees. Takes time but most things in life that are worth doing do take time. Curious who adds beef fat, who adds pork fat and who adds none to burger meat and why. I think I got a bad batch of fat from an old stinky sow and now that is all I can taste when I use pork fat in my venison burger. Ive switched to beef fat and Im loving it, I shoot for 1-2% beef fat add in my mix. I still dont get any fat in the pan when I cook it but I find that it browns and holds together better with just a little fat added in. Also, Food Lion has stopped selling their trimmed beef fat to customers because of a policy change and it makes me angry. They shouldnt be just throwing it away and wasting it when there is a customer standing right in front of them saying they will buy it. Ive talked with several people who are ticked about it too. Ive found out that Farm Fresh still sells it and cheaper too at $.50/lb but I have to drive further to get it. If you are so inclined give Food Lion Customer Service a call and let them know their policy is wasteful and not customer oriented. 1 (800) 210-9569
