The price of solar photovoltaic cells has been falling by - TopicsExpress

The price of solar photovoltaic cells has been falling by approximately 50% every five years since 1977. Over the next ten years, as the price falls further we will see them compete on the open market as a cost effective way of generating electricity. As this happens, more and more people will buy up solar panels in preference to relying on generators and grid supplies. This will occur all over the globe. The price has been falling due to advances in semiconductor technology and manufacture. But as the people of the world abandon oil and gas generated electricity and switch over to solar - you can be sure that governments will take credit for the entire phenomenon, as though this was the result of the squandering of public money in the form of government subsidies. It wasnt. Since the phenomenon predates government involvement. And here is the graph that proves it. So dont let them kid you with their seemingly munificent promises to commit to a low carbon future. Its the future that we were going to get all along. Thanks to technological inevitability:
