The pride of your heart has deceived you, You who dwell in the clefts of the rock, Whose habitation is high; You who say in your heart, Who will bring me down to the ground? Obadiah 1:3 God, through the prophet Obadiah, is informing the Edomites, the descendants of Esau, that the hands of Divine judgement will reach them wherever they are. The proud feel that all they do is accomplished beyond the tolerance of God. What we call, Gods permissive will, His forbearance of sin, fools some into believing that they themselves are the god operating in their lives. Some, when they have failed miserably, realize who God is and repent, others, the unyielding egotists, blame the world, ignore and even resent God. The intelligent, the saved, understand that all we are, and everything we do, hinges on the grace and mercy of God. We know that our next breath is in His hands, and we are both aware and thankful for it. Humility is not weakness. Acknowledging the sovereignty of God is not folly. Both are the choices of the wise. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:13
