The primary mission of South Wall Fire & Rescue Company is to protect the residents of Wall Township from the threat of fire and other emergencies. The type of incidents that South Wall firefighters respond to include building fires, auto accidents, fire alarms, hazardous materials incidents, utility emergencies, carbon monoxide incidents, and more. South Wall Fire & Rescue Company has been serving Wall Township since 1946. For over 50 years, South Wall firefighters have had a long standing tradition of pride and service to the community. Throughout their history, South Wall Fire & Rescue Company has evolved to meet the continuous demands and requests for the emergency services that we provide. In recent years, South Wall Fire & Rescue Company has recognized a need to train and equip their agency for technical rescue. The category of “Technical Rescue” includes response to unstable or compromised structures, rope rescue, methodological and specialized rescues, and more. One increasingly common example of these incidents includes vehicles into buildings. This type of incident poses a significant threat due to both the potential structural damage that can occur, as well as the high risk of injury to the vehicle occupant and the person(s) inside the building. Besides being one of the few companies recognized as a Rapid Intervention Team in both Monmouth and Ocean counties, South Wall Fire has expanded our efforts and expertise to include response to Structural Collapse. Recently, our Foam Trailer has been transformed into the New Special Operations Trailer, housing lumber, Paratech Struts, and other assorted tools for these types of emergencies. To match our new equipment, our ongoing training efforts have been focused on technical rescue, including response to unable or compromised structures, rope rescue, methodical and specialized rescues, and more. South Wall Fire Rescue Company responds mutual aid and assists many of their neighboring fire departments. They work in cooperation to save life and property, and to mitigate emergencies.
