The problem (as though there were just one) is our unapologetic - TopicsExpress

The problem (as though there were just one) is our unapologetic acceptance of violence as a means to solve our problems, coupled with a complete lack of empathy for the well being of others. In an almost sick and twisted way we relish violence, encourage it in our children, demand it from our politicians. We justify torture in the name of american exceptionalism, blame victims when their punishments outweigh their minor crimes, blame an entire race of people for the crimes of one. We defend at all cost our ability to commit violence against others in defense of our property and way of life, justify violence used to secure wealth and resources, and when others attempt to gain that same privilege we call them thugs, or accuse them of being takers, and demand the state take action against them. And then, with the greatest of hypocrisy, we have the nerve to rally against those same institutions that kill and oppress in order to maintain our hegemonic privilege because they dare to charge us for the service.
