The problem here is a basic misunderstanding of what science - TopicsExpress

The problem here is a basic misunderstanding of what science standards are. The statement Its not settled science is nonsense; NOTHING is ever settled science. That kind of absolute certainty is the hallmark of superstition and ignorance, and undermines the Bayesian process by which knowledge progresses. The fundamental property of the scientific process is that anything and everything is open to change, if (and only if) better data is found and better theories are formulated. The standards represent current consensus on various topics. In the very very very unlikely scenario that new data shows conclusively that climate change is not happening, then THAT will become the consensus, and the standards will be updated. Not teaching standards because they arent settled means nothing gets taught, and our children will remain ignorant of the world around them. In some cases, unfortunately, I think that that is exactly what people want.
