The problem of logical coherence and self-consistency in physical theory is getting more and more urgent and intractable as theory construction becomes increasingly more complex. Infinities constantly crop up all over the place in physical theory. Perhaps the problem lies with the nature of the mathematics used in physics, particularly the calculus. It may be we urgently need a revolution in mathematical physics.
