The problem with Americans is that weve been programmed with Tunnel Vision. We see only the cause and effect. We fail to connect each effect to another cause because, well that would require too much thinking. How can this possibly relate to that when they didnt happen together? Any answer we seek surely must be in a shallow pool of possibilities, lets not waste time searching for a better-fitting explanation in an ocean. The looting that follows a crime, especially a crime entangled in racist accusations, is typically what happens after a long chain of other oppressed events. Stop saying idiotic things like, Ohh, a child dies so lets go steal a tv to show how much I care. Thats not why these people are putting themselves through so much hell and danger in Ferguson. They literally feel so oppressed and so disrespected and so UNHEARD that they dont even care that theyre destroying their surrounding community. They feel so disconnected from their community which ostracizes, degrades them and murders them that their last resort is to tear it all down because, what is there left to lose? Nothing. Theyre in danger whether they loot or not, so why not at least try to gain something in that fear? It makes perfect sense. The media has used your learned tunnel vision against you and is keeping you from understanding the bigger picture. These people are not causing an uprising for no reason, nor are they destroying communities to avenge Michael Brown. They simply have nothing else to lose but their lives, and those are already being wrongfully taken anyways. So why not die giving them hell for it? This ONE shooting that theyre pinning all of this to was not the single cause of all this tension, it was merely the straw that broke the camels back. Its noble. Its American. What isnt American is turning against your fellow countrymen to protect an obviously ever-growing and out of control police force which will eventually leave you refretful when YOURE on the other end of the tear gas and gunfire. Now loosen that tunnel vision up a little bit more and understand that although this seems to be isolated racism from the Ferguson Police, it is really a slow uprising in power for all police. They are starting with lowly communities and are working their way up. Although racism in Ferguson clearly is a real issue, as a whole, it is not a racist conflict. Racism is another term in this particular incident that is giving you tunnel vision. These racist policemen in ferguson would not be able to commit racist crimes on these people had their badge not given them the right to. There is always a bigger picture. Not all police are power hungry and dangerous. But the structure weve created for our police force is just that.
