The problem with any campaign of dissent is that it can get hijacked. The Arab Spring, the Iranian revolution and the Russian revolution are examples of movements for change where the end result was not necessarily what their initial supporters envisaged. Something similar has happened in Mid Staffs. Patient campaign groups exposed the poor care happening in certain parts of the hospital because they wanted standards raised. They wanted their local hospital to provide a better service. They now find that the end result is exactly the opposite. Their A&E is already closed at night and, according to the Guardian, is likely to be closed altogether from Wednesday. theguardian/society/2013/jul/28/staffords-hospital-closure-anger-grows
