The problem with meddling in Middle Eastern affairs and having our government’s decision makers believe the mantra of “this time, it will be different,” is that it only creates and strengthens more violent gangs of disgruntled Arabs to join the cause in fighting any government. It makes no difference if we go in there and establish an American friendly Iraqi government. Those terrorists will not acknowledge it. It makes no difference to ask Bashar to step down because it will be another Iraq without Saddam or a Libya without Gaddafi. It makes no sense to put up roadblocks against Iran because we don’t wish to upset our partners in crime. We have tried many times to wipe out violent radicalized groups in the Middle East and each time it has been met with utter failure. Whether it is in Yemen or Pakistan, the threat continues to still be there. It is time to cut our losses and focus on other affairs. What will come of the United States vs. #ISIS conflict? Nothing good according to this #OpEd on MyMPN, our blog.
