The problem with treating corporations as people for all purposes - TopicsExpress

The problem with treating corporations as people for all purposes (religious freedom, speech, etc.) is that conservatives dont want to apply the same norms of conduct expected of natural persons to companies. Under conservative doctrine enhancing shareholder value should be the guiding principal of corporate management. Ideas such as the common good, community, mutual assistance and self denial have no place in such a world. Thus, we have a society where artificial persons possess none of the mitigating moral, compassionate and empathetic values we expect of natural persons.
