The problems I have had with this group is that the description of a mature student is anyone 21 years of age and older. There are mature students 60+ and older. I myself am 52, going into final year of HRM. When I see posts for Howlin Voodoo and other nights out in town posted on this group it highlights even more so how on the fringe of activities very mature students are. I have found it very difficult to find any worthwhile activity catered for students of my age or generation, commonly because we have other concerns outside of student life that take precedent. I hope this group can become really proactive in increasing inclusion levels of mature students. The problem again which I will highlight here is that over the last 2 years I have attended a number of meetings with very low attendance, in fact at one meeting I was the only attendee talking to mature student reps. Concerns I raised were never addressed or if they where, resulting actions where never communicated back to me. If mature student issues are of a concern to you, please attend the meetings as the more students attend more realistically positive results will emerge. Good luck to all in the coming academic year
