The problems with the Obamacare website might be getting all the publicity, but they’re just phase one of the possible meltdown of that program. Phase two is already starting, with rising anger over policy cancellations, skyrocketing prices, and fears that people will just go without insurance, creating a major financial hole. And brace yourself for phase three: that’s when everyone will have health coverage, but good luck finding a doctor. I’ve been conducting a personal, informal survey for that past couple of years, asking every doctor I meet if they like the Obamacare bill. So far, the only ones who have are those who teach or consult. I haven’t found one doctor who treats patients likes it. Many have said they plan to give up their practices rather than deal with the mandates, paperwork and government interference. Now, there’s official confirmation of that. The New York State Medical Society surveyed 409 New York doctors. Only 23 percent said they plan to accept patients enrolled in an Obamacare health exchange. Most of them said it was only because they had to under their existing contracts. 33 percent aren’t sure yet. As for the rest, they used words like “train wreck” and “disaster,” they said they can’t handle that many patients with all the paperwork and payment cuts, and they’ll retire rather than deal with it. One said, “The solution is simple: just say no.” That is not what you want to hear when you need a doctor. Mike Huckabee
