The project of Teaching Photography - in Vietnam for now but maybe somewhere else later - is now named Shoot Out Loud. Unfortunately, the need for a name has been triggered by a negative reply from SONY to sponsor the project with new cameras or monetary funding. When I have been asked - by my sister - why I need funding and I replied For cameras, her reaction was More?!. Yes, last year I received amazing support from my friends, colleagues, even people I didn’t know, through posted ads, and I collected quite a few cameras - digital and film - which have served for the first set of classes and still serve to get the children to take pictures of events at the school. Unfortunately, these cameras had their limit... called battery life. This year, I want to go out in the neighbourhood for the children to picture their life, family, friends... this will be impossible if the cameras’ batteries only last for one hour or so - which ended up being the case for many of them. I therefore want to buy new cameras and will need help to finance them. The second idea needing monetary input will be developed in another post, as it is very close to my heart and my schoolgirl memories... :-) To start on support and sponsorship requests, I have decided on an official name - with the help of few friends -, created an email address and will try and reach out for some companies, associations and charities to get them involved. I certainly, at some point – some organisation is needed first -, will reach out for your help as well… So open your eye and expect my appeal. :-)
