The public doesn’t always understand how much hard work goes into safely and reliably powering communities and cities. The State Assembly recently designated July 10 as Journeyman Linemen Recognition Day in California. PG&E joined IBEW Local 1245 to host celebrations from Humboldt County to Kern County and everywhere in between. Damian Bird, a 13-year line worker for PG&E, said the recognition is extra special for his team, which works in remote locations far from big cities. “When a storm hits or disasters happen, we’re there to get people back on their feet. So this is a nice pat on the back,” he said.
