The push for the referendum by CORD coalition is now in full gear. - TopicsExpress

The push for the referendum by CORD coalition is now in full gear. The political party has raised over 1.5 million signatures already and it seems like it is time for the Jubilee counter-parts to see the way things are currently. There is talk that the party will try to raise some ten million signatures to counter CORD’s referendum push. This is a no brainer and will only give the referendum talk more significance to the Kenyans and the world at large. What CORD coalition is trying to use is what is termed as comparative politics. Comparative politics is a method and field that is applied in political science, exemplified by a pragmatic approach founded on the comparative system. In other terms comparative politics is the research of the political institutions, domestic politics, and conflicts of nations. It frequently involves the comparisons amongst nations and through time in single nations, by emphasizing the key patterns of difference and similarity. Comparative politics has no substantive focal point, but to a certain extent has a practical one which puts its spotlight on the how” band and has no specifications of “the what” of the psychoanalysis. Comparative politics is not expressed by the objective of its research, but by the technique it applies to research of the political phenomenon. When applied to some particular fields of study, comparative politics may be referred to by other terms, such as comparative government research of types of government and comparative foreign policy which is done by contrasting the characteristics of its foreign policy and the foreign policies of different countries so as to start common empirical connections between these countries. Even though the term comparative politics refers to the politics of foreign nations and terminology, it is frequently regarded as being incorrect. Comparative political science is an area of political research, as opposed to a method of research, and it may be perceived as redundant. The political research merely proves to be political when a tacit or an overt comparison is made. A research of a single political body such as Jubilee, whether it is a subculture or a society, can exhibit the political as some simple realism even without comparing it with another subculture or society. The Third Wave Democracy In political science, Third Wave Democracy which is also known as the Democracys Third Wave is the third major upsurge and route of democracy in recent history. The exact tally of the figure of democracies actually fluctuates depending on the criterion that is used to do the appraisal, but there are over a hundred democracies worldwide currently, which is a marked increase in the last few decades. Numerous of these most recent democracies are not completely consolidated, which means that whilst they have electoral institutions put in place, the political democracy still remains fragile. The elucidation for this fragility comprises of continued elite dominance of politics, economic instability, and the interference in some civilian affairs. Nations which under went or are undergoing the progression to democracy during a wave sometimes tend to backslide. Political theorists and scientists think that the third wave has stopped and will soon start to ebb, just as its precursors did in the first and second waves. It is my anticipating hope that Cord coalition is not trying to bring about a revolution by using comparative politics because it is bound to fail.
