The quest for Godhood is real thanks to the Infinite Atonement. Genesis 17:1 Angel said to Abraham "walk before me, and be thou perfect" Matthew 5:48 Jesus during the Sermon on the Mount said "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your father which is in heaven is perfect." John 17:17:22-23 Jesus talking to believers said "be one, even as we are one: I in them and thou in me, that we may be perfect in one." Ephesians 4:12-13 Paul taught that the vital reason for the church was "for the perfecting of the saints,...till we all come...unto a perfect man...unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ" John 10:34 To the Jews, Jesus said "It is written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?" He was about to be stoned by the Jews for blasphemy before he said this. Psalm 82:6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the Most High." As Children of The Father we can become like him. Acts 17:28 Paul, when speaking to the men of Athens said "For we are also his offspring." Romans 8:16-17 Paul knew our potential as offspring of God. When he was speaking to the Romans he declared "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ." Revelation 21:7 John the Revelator saw in vision how all-inclusive this inheritance might be. "He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son." 2 Timothy 2:12 Paul promised Timothy, "If we suffer, we shall also reign with him." Philippians 3:14 Paul wrote to the saints of Philippi, "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." He was striving for Godhood. Philippians 3:14 Paul extends a universal invitation to all saints, "Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded." Hebrews 6:1,3 Paul gave the Hebrews the same message, "Therefore not leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go unto perfection if God permit." 2 Peter 1:4 Peter adds his testimony that we "might be partakers of the divine nature." Meaning recipients of Godhoood. Does this concept lower God the Father to the statutes of man? Does this doctrine rob God of His divinity? No--Philippians 2:5-6 Paul silenced all critics saying to the saints of Philippi, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God." Gospel of Phillip, one of the Nag Hammadi discoveries says, "A horse sites a horse, a man begets a man, a god brings forth a god." 1 Peter 5:6 "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time." Revelation 2:26 "And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations." Revelation 3:21 "To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne."
