The race for Alabama PSC Place 2, in Tuesdays runoff has important - TopicsExpress

The race for Alabama PSC Place 2, in Tuesdays runoff has important implications for electric power and gas rates in Alabama. It also pits the political clout of Alabama Power against grassroots groups like Alabama ARISE and national organizations like the AARP. Under the current approved rates Alabama Power is allowed to clear 13% to 14.5% return on their investment. If their costs go up to where they make less than a 13% profit, the PSC can raise rates to return the state regulated monopoly back to their accustomed profit margin. PSC Commissioner Terry Dunn, asked for a formal rate review with formal hearings. Because seriously, shouldnt the Alabama Public Service Commission serve the PUBLIC & not Alabama Power? Speaker Mike Hubbard rebuked Dunn for taking his job TOO SERIOUSLY, and PSC President Twinkle Cavanaugh became totally unhinged. The proposal was voted DOWN. Since there is NO DEMOCRAT running for this seat, then essential THIS run-off election will DECIDE if there is a REASONABLE voice to stand up for the PEOPLE of Alabama. If you are a Democrat in a district with NO Democrat in a run-off, please consider voting FOR Terry Dunn and voting YES on Amendment 1 on Tuesday. leftinalabama/diary/10988/
