The rapid turn of events in Crimea is really making Washington look extremely stupid. The media have tried very hard to tow the party line, i.e. that the Russians are invading Crimea in a war of aggression, without really doing their homework. Now that the Crimeans are making it clear they want to join Russia, its impossible to sustain that narrative. The result will be that Ukraine will lose Crimea for good, and Obama and Kerry will be left fuming and totally impotent. This is clearly a massive victory for Russia - a situation they didnt create is about to result in a historical Russian territory returning to the fold, with barely a finger having been lifted by Moscow.
