The reality of stigma, lack of understanding, empathy and compassion, for those who struggle with mental illness. Today, I was embarrased telling a good friend, I was back in secondary care as a, SERVICE USER, with my local mental health service. Why was I?...........Because of stigma. The way I see it now, I have two choices. 1. I can either accept that I have an illness that I sometimes can not manage by myself. Pick up the phone and admit I need extra support and recover quicker OR 2. I can carry on hiding away, not answering the telephone or the door ,because of embarassemnt,each and every time I struggle.............Trust me, option 2 takes so much more time to recover from :) Peace and happiness to you all.x
