The reason why many dont know this is because the majority of those soldiers were republicans. The school system has long been over taken by the democrat party who went from the KKK- they founded- to having influence in the school. Democrats do not want you to know they represented the Confederacy. If people knew that the majority of the union soldiers were republican, then more people would find out more of the institutionalized racism of the democrat party. But the democrat party has been programing people deeply to swear that its the republicans that are racist to cover their trail. And thats why Im going to be called a boot licking, white washed house negro in 3...2...1...
