The recent development at a taxi rank where a woman was stripped - TopicsExpress

The recent development at a taxi rank where a woman was stripped naked for dressing like a tramp should be seen as a continental catastrophy. We Black men are a defeated lot and are not aware of it. This defeat makes us to abuse Black women in all fronts(business, home and church). A heavy dose of Steve Bikos teachings is needed here. Instead of acting on a womans right to clothe the way she desires,we need to examine why we are in the condition we find ourselves as Black people. We need to ask, for instance, why taxis driving from our CBDs drive to Black townships like Galeshewe,Roodepan,Greenpoint, etc and not to former White suburbs? Why is it Blacks are crammed in taxis everyday to their workplace and former Model C schools? Why is there no influx of Whites to townships yet we see an influx of indebted Blacks to former White suburbs? Why is the wealth gap continuing to widen between rich(mostly well off Whites & a few Blacks) and poor(majority are Black)? Why do we build shacks in our townships and not in the suburbs in preparation for a housing development which will bring people closer to their workplace? These are but some of the pertinent questions we do not ask instead we abuse and embarass our women. In addition to the dose of Black Consciousness, we need to revisit the blueprint that Marcus Garvey submitted. Garvey encouraged us to have our own economy where Afrikan countries will trade with each other. He impressed on us a situation where we manufacture and create a market amongst us. By this century we should be making our own shoes, chocolate, furniture, jewellery, motor vehicles and even aeroplanes. All this is possible if we could follow the teachings of our ancestors aforementioned. Vuka darkie!
