The recent outbreak of Ebola case in Port Harcourt, the Rivers - TopicsExpress

The recent outbreak of Ebola case in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital has gone a long way to expose the inability of the Nigerian Medical Association to put their priorities right. It has exposed the follies of the so called medical practitioners who desire all the pay and all the comfort when they are more ignorant than the trader or Okada rider on the streets. It has buttressed the fact that most Nigerians die due to poor diagnosis by these set of ignorant medical practitioners. If you think I am wrong then I need answers to these questions as emanated from the Port Harcourt Ebola case. 1. Is Dr Ikechukwu Samuel Enemuo not a medical practitioner duly registered with the NMA? 2. Is NMA not supposed to mandate all members never to handle any Ebola-like patient without informing the association and relevant authorities? 3. Is a medical doctor, who knows the implications of Ebola supposed to treat such a case from a hotel room? 4. Why will the renowned Hospital that rejected the medical doctor when he was down not raise alarm? 5. Has their refusal to raise alarm not led to uncountable contacts from their quietness? 6. Why will the Good heart Hospital admit the dying doctor without contacting the relevant authorities? 7. Why will the Medical director of the good heart hospital release the corpse to be sent to a set of ignorant morticians? 8. Why will all these happen if the NMA has been up to date in regulating and regimenting and sensitizing their members at the face of this challenge that is claiming mostly their members? 9. Why will medical practitioners be this callous and exhibit crass ignorance when even the market woman has her sanitizer ready? I suggest that the Nigerian Medical and Dental association should rather embark on rapid and holistic reorientation of their members in the handling of sensitive matters like this. They should step up their role in ensuring that the medical practice in Nigeria is sanitized and rid of quacks.....Rather than embarking on Strikes
