The reciprocal borrowing agreement between the Lithgow Public - TopicsExpress

The reciprocal borrowing agreement between the Lithgow Public Library, the Gardiner Public Library, and the Waterville Public Library will be ending on September 1st. Lithgow Library will be moving to temporary quarters in early 2015, while the historic original facility is renovated and expanded. During this time of transition and construction Lithgow will not have the capacity to continue serving large numbers of Gardiner and Waterville patrons. The reciprocal borrowing arrangement was an experiment between the three Kennebec Valley libraries. The numbers demonstrate that Lithgow Library, with extended hours and a large collection in the service center of Augusta, hosted the most visitors from the other libraries and lent the most items. This experiment was a win for library users, but is not sustainable without additional funding. Lithgow Public Library items will still be available to the other libraries via MINERVA and interlibrary loan, but walk-in borrowing will cease as of September 1st. Non-resident memberships may also be purchased for 3 months, 6 months or 12 months for $15-$60. The fee includes all members of a household.
