The recording of Saturdays bonus webinar, Googling Around with Google, presented by Geoff Rasmussen (thats me!) at the Root Cellar annual spring seminar in Fair Oaks, California, is now available to view for free for a limited time at FamilyTreeWebinars. Sure was fun presenting to the live audience, and although I didnt get to everything I wanted to cover in the webinar, we learned about Google Alerts, customized Google searches, searching with an image instead of text, Google Calendar, and Google Earths historical state and county boundaries. A few comments from our viewers: Though ive never been a fan of Google, this could change my mind on some of the research potential, esp query alerts and photo searches (that got my blood going!) Amazing information. Google with an image. Maybe someone out there knows who all those people are in my old photos. As always, I learned a lot today. I never knew Goole had so much to offer. I may even convert to an electronic calendar! AWESOME job as usual Geoff! Applications that will impact my life more than just genealogy!!!! Awesome! I will start using google calendar for sure, also google maps. Learned a lot more about google. Thanks Fascinating........ I really must start and use Google more than I have been. I especially liked the calendar information. And I didnt even know about the Animaps.......... learn something at every webinar. Geoff did it again, Good job, lots of information and user friendly. Geoff is so good! Especially like it when he goes live and makes discoveries with us. This was fun! Geoff, for a Google user for the common tasks, your webinar today was an eye-opener. Thanks for introducing me to so many new ways Google can assist me with my family history work. Great examples of using Google! Wish there had been time to complete your slides! I can hardly wait to try al your tips out. I really want to get rid of my paper calendars! Great fun watching Geoff googling around! Helpful new Google applications! Going to go play with Google Earth historical state/county files now .... I get so many new websites to use in my research. I recommend the webinars to anyone whos interested. I learn something exceptional from all your webinars...no matter what subject or how simple they are!!!!!!! Thank you! I learned so much about Google that I didnt know. I love Geoffs webinars. Comes across as a friendly, helpful person. Especially like that he makes mistakes (just like me!). No matter how many times I hear about Google, I always learn more. I thought the webinar was excellent. I use Google Chrome all the time, but not nearly to its full potential, which the webinar has shown me some of that today. I will definitely be using more of Googles many fine features thanks to this webinar. Kudos to Geoff and another information packed webinar. Ill definitely be going in and updating my Google Alerts. I also have several photos that will be checked on Google Images to see if I can find more information on them. Im still a paper calendar gal ... sorry Geoff! With family from coast to coast in the US Im going to check into the suggestion on using Google Earth and downloading the shapes. Thank you so much for providing this free webinar. One of the most informative yet. Wish Geoff could have talked longer. So much more to learn! Maybe he can do a Part 2? Please! Thank you for another mind-boggling webinar...( I have now added holidays, sunrise sunsets, and will be looking up football schedules!!!)Google Alerts...getting a list together of some of my elusive ancestors...etc., etc. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Thank you for taking time to make my Google experience more rewarding. So much out there to learn and use. That was enlightening. I have looked at some of these Google features before, but never understood what to do with them. Now, after this webinar...I am smarter...kinda...I hope... That was REALLY fun. Thx for the extra effort to include webinar subscribers with an actual live seminar. Learned a lot about Google, loved the KMZ overlaps. Well worth me returning home mid-day to see! Thanks so much.
