The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, And a man - TopicsExpress

The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, And a man is valued by what others say of him. (Proverbs 27:21) Just as silver and gold are refined by processes to bring out the perfection that resides in them, we are also continually being refined from sin to reflect the image of Christ. This scripture underscores the importance of a good name or reputation. Whether as individuals or as organisations, a good name establishes our value to others. It opens doors, increases trust and thus reduces the cost of and time involved in getting things done. A good reputation is equity and can be leveraged for business and other partnerships. A bad reputation follows you everywhere and affects both yourself and others associated with you. The commendation and recognition of men can easily make us slip. If a man has a weak character, praise will make him proud, conceited, and overbearing. If a man has a strong character, praise will not affect him at all. He will continue in his modest and humble course, giving glory to God and being thankful for any good that he might be able to do toward others. Our reputations are influenced by a number of factors. May God open your eyes to these influencers and strengthen you to always choose integrity and a good name. Youre blessed indeed!
