The reinstatement of the Benelux IC and the connections are a - TopicsExpress

The reinstatement of the Benelux IC and the connections are a welcome return to normality. Nobody wanted the bloody FYRA anyway. Hopefully Eurostar will reinstate the "Any Dutch" ticket quickly via this route. Clutching at straws as Eurostar is not known for quick, sensible decisions. I do hope their plans to go to Amsterdam in 2016 come to fruition, something they should have done years ago, only the threat of DB has made them do this, so thanks DB ! I noted with a wry grin that the pretty woman from NS who announced all this on Dutch TV (do they have men at the top any more on NS?) said they have listened to what the passengers wanted. This is spin as if Fyra had not collapsed they and the politicians would NOT have listened to the "customers". Fortunately NS and NMBS are going to run the trains, they have been runnning trains between NL and B for donkeys years so that is how it should be. There was some talk in Den Haag about getting a contractor (KLM ?) to run it. What nonsense. Thank goodness that has been kicked into touch. However the consumer organisations need to keep an eye on this because the silly sods might try it again later. ROVER the Dutch users organisation has said it is pleased that the HSL in NL is now part of the national rail system and no longer in splendid isolation, hear, hear. British govt note in respect of HS2.
