The relationship of Muslim men and women in Islam is one of mutual respect and honour. Our Lord in His divine revelation mentions The believing men and believing women are protectors of one another. ~ [Surat at-Tawbah, verse 71] Though sometimes we are segregated so viciously in the west that its almost viewed taboo as to even smile and say Salam to your brother or sister. If you read the Seerah of the Prophet (saw) we dont find such ultra-conservative segregation between the Sahabah & Sahabiyat like we do in some of our circles and communities. As a consequence of this extremism our brothers dont know how to treat our sisters with respect and be there for her when she needs help, and vice versa. Then there are those within Muslim communities that have completely abandoned any form of segregation and freely-mix with the opposite gender and even touch without any shame or consciousness of Allah. How do we reach a healthy balance of lowering our gaze in front of the opposite gender, yet be protectors to one another without compromising the segregation of respect that our faith prescribes. In this video clip Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi answers the controversial question of gender segregation in the west. Link to video >>> https://youtube/watch?v=SLFzAcmhJFc ~ [YQ Admin]
