The results came back showing that Karen has a slight infection - TopicsExpress

The results came back showing that Karen has a slight infection (from catheter), and the results from her saliva test will be here tomorrow for that possible infection. She also started running a fever. They are now giving her antibiotics every 6 hours, and giving tylenol (and using cold packs) for fever. Just thinking about this makes me sick to my stomach, even though its not bad — but I dont want to GET bad. She didnt move a whole lot today, probably because she feels like crud. However, the physical therapist (one I hadnt seen before) pointed out she was responding all over to pain stimulus, and responding quickly. Weve heard this before, and its just icing on the cake to hear someone else say it! Shes reached her time limit for the respirator tube, so they will do a tracheotomy tomorrow. I wish they had already done one, because it will make her breathing easier and avoid infection and prolonged irritation. Shes coughing more and more as shes becoming more aware, so it will be good to get the tube out of her throat. We wont know the time of her procedure until tomorrow. I did get to see her yawn today, which was cute. I was also told my insurance was going to stop covering me today — so I have email sent in an attempt to earn some grace and mercy. The deal is that the insurance company sees my wound care as out-patient care. Of course, what they fail to understand (at this point) is that Im wheelchair bound, unable to tote myself — or be toted in a taxi — around Bangkok, etc., etc. I need just a week and half of mercy from these guys. If not, Ill have to pay out-of-pocket until Im fit be on my own and able to get around on crutches. Well see... Talk about a roller coaster. Thanks for the prayers for the above items, folks! Much love to you all!
