The return of the prodigal son gave Atletico a change in tide In the latest Copa del Rey match that featured the Madrid derby saw Atletico had the upper hand of bagging 2 goals in the first leg against Real. The match was very anticipated by many as it marked the return of Fernando Torres for his second spell in the club. Torres started out his career in Atletico, left the club for Liverpool which made him a superstar before he made the switch to Chelsea. After the Liverpool spell, his career seemed dull as he was struggling to find form in Chelsea colors. He then left the Blues and moved to Italy for AC Milan. Shortly after that, he is seeking a career rejuvenation as he made the move to his original club. Call it cold, but his efforts during the Madrid derby last night were rather lacking. Well, nobody is that good of making a second first impression. But, he showed some spirit in the game. Minutes before Torres was substituted, Atletico scored a goal from the spot after Ramos foul Atleticos player in the penalty box. Not too long after that, Atletico sealed the deal with the second goal. Real tried to push by bringing in Cristiano Ronaldo after a 60 minutes rest but Atletico were rather adamant at the back. In the end, the scoreline was 2-0 and Real is having 2 back-to-back defeats. As for Torres, he didnt really made an explosive entrance. To be honest, Antoine Griezmann was more dangerous in front than Torres. However with time, Torres will come back to his best form. Eventhough his involvement in the match was rather lacking but his return did cause the tide to change last night. I guess if u ask an Atletico fan thats what they would tell you.
