The risk of developing renal cell carcinoma, or kidney cancer, may increase with the use of popular pain medications, including Johnson & Johnson’s Motrin, Pfizer’s Advil, and Bayer’s Aleve, Bloomberg reports. According to a study published in 2011, in the medical journal Archives of Internal Medicine, people who regularly used ibuprofen or naproxen were 51 percent more likely to develop renal cell carcinoma than those who didn’t rely on pain pills. And the longer the participants took the pain medications, the higher the risk. bloomberg/news/2011-09-12/commonly-used-pain-pills-increase-kidney-cancer-risk-in-study.html
