The same great human endeavor--Science--which has landed space vehicles on comets, unlocked the human genome, and created a sheep out of cells in a laboratory, has managed to wrap itself in a great number of persuasive and intimidating dogmas which are essentially forced on science students as they come up through the grades. Scientific Materialism is accepted as default reality by many, at the highest levels of professional and academic training. The result is that the impressive edifices of science have become almost unscalable walls of dogma which shut out new theories and ideas. Rupert Sheldrake is remarkable because he extricated himself from scientific materialism, studied questions unanswered by traditional science, created fascinating explanations (like morphic resonance) and brought those back into the fold for review by his stubborn and skeptical scientific materialist colleagues. https://youtube/watch?v=MtgLklXZo3U
