The saying, Everything happens for a reason, strikes a rogue nerve in me every time. If thats true, for what reason did the Newtown shootings occur? And for what reason do infants get cancer? Theres so much suffering in the world where no good comes from it. Its not the same as when you have a breakup and both people are happier later, you dont get a dream apartment but find a better one, lose a job and start a new career, etc. I feel that to blanket statement that everything happens for a reason is crude because it implies that the reason is good. Although sometimes you can turn a negative into a positive, its not always possible. Therefore, I find it rather insulting to those who cant. There. I finally said it!
