The school year is still a month away and summer is still cooking, - TopicsExpress

The school year is still a month away and summer is still cooking, but it’s not too early to start gearing up for the PSAT. This standardized test will be facilitated at most high schools this coming October for most high school juniors. Some students don’t take this test seriously. They don’t think results on the PSAT have much to do with college acceptance. What they might not be aware of is the potential monetary reward earned by doing well. If students worked hard preparing and did well on the PSAT, they might be awarded scholarship money. In fact, the PSAT is the only standardized test that can earn college money directly for doing well. Colleges also pay the College Board for names of students who score above a certain level. Those students might find themselves being recruited by certain colleges. They also might find their mailboxes and in-boxes filling up with brochures and booklets conveying information and pictures about the college who has taken an interest. And even though the P of PSAT does not stand for practice, preparing for and taking the test will help the student do well on the SAT, which could lead to an acceptance.
