The scientific worldview is aesthetically appealing in certain - TopicsExpress

The scientific worldview is aesthetically appealing in certain ways but, in the long run, it ultimately has a dark, nihilistic, empty character. Im tired of seeing people try to package and advertise it otherwise. If it were really as uplifting as some claim, why was there so much resistance to the Copernican* and Darwinian revolutions when they began? For that matter, why is there so much resistance NOW? My point in saying this is not to say that is scientific thinking is false, or that it should be discouraged, my point is that people who *really* care about truth acknowledge this ugliness and press on with thinking scientifically anyway.
