The scripture below had a literal meaning when it was written : Malachi 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Why cant the poor get food from church? I mean tangible food. Give the tangible (money) and get intangible (Word/gospel). Who is robbing God? The church will continue to have problems when it compromises on sin and fails to be relevant to the poor. The scripture says people must give their tithes so there may be food in the storehouse - literally. Can the poor find food in church in our days? Pastors are multimillionaires. Pastors own private jets. Pastors by expensive cars with personalized plates. But theyre not ashamed that the poor cannot find tangible food in their churches. Youll get only the gospel. They hire the Sandton Convention Center or stadiums for a conference and ask those who came to pay for it? Where is the logic? South Africans are easy prey, they like giving in return for a hundred fold. You are asked to give today and go away to believe for your own hundred fold while they get a thousand fold immediately. Nothing wrong with giving and the scripture but the message is lost in translation to the detriment of the poor. Prov 19:17 Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done. Where does your tithe go ? Is your church relevant to the poor surrounding your church?
