The scw water trapped under the pre flood crust remained pressurized under the crust. The crack which initially caused the pressure to release was a giant ice meteor that came hurling tbrough space, breaking apart like a gigantic snowball, covered the north and south poles. The mammoths were frozen almost instantly along with milliond of others with lush preflood vegetation. The crack began as a small rip in a tightly stretched cloth that raced around the entire biomass of the planet within the speed of just two hours. Shortly after the flood much of the ice remained unthawed, creating land brides. After much of the ice melting the sea level rose substantialy enough to isolate many creatures into sepearate ecological and continental habbitats and zones.
