The second time I ever really took notice of Madonna, who I was - TopicsExpress

The second time I ever really took notice of Madonna, who I was still unaware of in 1983 because I was too busy listening to IRON MAIDEN, TWISTED SISTER and QUIET RIOT, was at a high school dance. I was standing next to the wall with my friends, when, in what looked like a scene from a movie, an unfamiliar song came on and three pretty girls strutted onto the gym dance floor, complete with the black bows in the hair and the lace gloves and the whole nine yards – it was the first time I ever saw that look! The song playing was “Lucky Star” and the room parted like Moses parting the red sea as the trio strutted to the center of the gym and broke out into the full-on choreography from the “Lucky Star” video, which I had never seen yet; completely rolling on the floor and the whole thing. Everyone’s jaws were also on the floor, including my buddies, who were all eyeing the girls and practically drooling. When it was over, I uttered: “WHO was that?!” My buddies were like, “I have no idea but we need to find out ‘cause they’re so damn hot!” I was like, “Oh. Noooooo, not them; not the girls! WHO is the person singing?! That s#@!t was amazing!” I think that was the very second I unintentionally outed myself. LOL
