The shoplifting suspect in this story turned out to be a deputy sheriff who was allowed to retire while the security guard pictured here was fired for following the same procedure he had used for years. He notified the police and turned over the video tape. Target fired him. Molly Snyder, the official Target spokesman, says “we have conducted a full investigation and don’t believe there is any merit to this individual’s claims.” I used to like Target.
