The show of shame in the National Assembly yesterday is indeed a - TopicsExpress

The show of shame in the National Assembly yesterday is indeed a drag on our democracy which is at least unwarranted if the PDP and the Presidency had not chosen to use the security agencies such as the Police and DSS in a manner that projected Nigeria before the whole world as a Banana Republic. In a civilised democracy, opposition and the ruling party works in harmonious manner in the interest of the nation but Jonathan administration chose to follow the part of gangerism all in an attempt to frustrate and remove the Speaker. Presently, the Republicans controls the Senate and Congress in the United State while the President is a Democrat, the whole world would be shocked to see President Obama deploying security agents to prevent Speaker Boehner access to the premises of Congress. Yet, these crooks are displaying on Network News on daily basis comparing President Jonathan to the likes of Obama, Mandela, Ghandi, Lee Kuan Yew. Would all these men of integrity ridicule their democracy in a way that GEJ just did? Goodluck Jonathan on the one hand and the above-mentioned personalities on the other hand are two parallel lines; they can never meet, comparing Goodluck Jonathan with them is like comparing sleep with death. Moreover, yesterday’s event has compounded the already fragile relationship between the executive and the lawmakers, for example the extension of the state of emergency in the three north-eastern states that the President requested was rejected because this attitude of the President. Henceforth, it will be difficult for the executive to get anything done easily at the National Assembly; they will be frustrating everything from the Presidency and the nation will suffer ultimately. Jonathan has turned our democracy into a diarchy and he is running a gangarism government to say the least.
