The silkworm is the larva or caterpillar of the domesticated - TopicsExpress

The silkworm is the larva or caterpillar of the domesticated silkmoth, Bombyx mori, and is the primary producer of silk. Its preferred food is white mulberry leaves (monophagous). Through human cultivation and use for silk they are entirely dependent on humans for reproduction, the moth has lost the ability to fly, and they do not occur naturally in the wild. We were given some because we have a mulberry tree and so now we have to pick fresh leaves daily ... stay posted for photos when they spin their silk cocoons and turn into moths:)
