The singing trees of angkor. An entrancing sound. One of the most - TopicsExpress

The singing trees of angkor. An entrancing sound. One of the most moving things for me in angkor was in fact beyond the realm of mans hand and the built environment! It was something simple yet magical that mother nature gave, and it was her singing in trees. Ive done some searching to try to understand this sound. Ive never heard anything quite like it. Cicadas and crickets weve all heard come closest, but if you listen closely to this sound, its one high pitch that continues without wavering. Constant and beautiful I wondered if in fact this sound was ringing those hundreds of years ago when the Khmer rulers decided to build on this sight and in fact if this sound was indeed the very reason why Angkor exists where it does. This sound has a magical quality. It rings deep. Its very meditative listening to it, and I found myself going back just to hear it. Im sure it has some spiritual connection, but in fact if you focus on the sound its a powerful, enchanting noise that can lead you into your soul. Whacky ha?! well you decide for your self. Unfortunately when I actually decided to record the sound it was at one of my last moments I was at angkor, and it was at the time and place of the sunset rush, so you can hear the bustle of the crowd in the background at times. Actually there are many places you can hear the sound and nothing else. Turn the volume up! it was very loud in the trees. Ive recorded it so I can listen to it often, as I believe it has meditative powers. see for yourself
