The situation on the Texas border underscores the absolute failure of President Obama and Washington leaders to secure the border and protect our national sovereignty. As a result, vulnerable women and children are entangled in an untenable situation which places them at significant peril and at the mercy of those seeking to profit from their misery. Those responsible for patrolling the border are stretched thin, enabling drug cartels, human traffickers, and other lawless elements to take full advantage of this situation and place Texas citizens at risk. As a Texas state senator, I support efforts to direct more resources to the critical mission of securing our Texas border. As your next Attorney General, I will support all appropriate efforts in our battle to gain operational control of our border. We are a nation of laws, and must protect our national sovereignty.
