The sixth session of the Conference of state parties to the CRPD which started on 17th July, 2013 comes to an end today 19th July, 2013. The theme of the session was ensuring adequate standard of living: empowerment and participation of persons with disabilities within the framework of the CRPD. During the session, various side events were held. On 17th July at 1.15 p.m. to 2.30 p.m., the Permanent Mission of Kenya in the United States organized a side event on Social protection and empowerment of persons with disabilities. Dr. Samuel Kabue, Programme Executive, EDAN together with Cecilia Mbaka, Deputy Director, Ministry of Gender and Social Development, Kenya made a presentation on economic empowerment through inclusive social protection and poverty reduction strategies: a case of kenya - national development fund for persons with disabilities.
