The so called government shutdown is reveling just how much our politicians are there for the ‘people’. It seems that the president has chosen to make it as painful for the average citizen as e can while letting some special interest groups off Scott free. We are seeing it on our trip where not only federal parks are shut down but the federal government is demanding that states close down state controlled parks also (why?). The FED will not even let states fund national parks they deem important to their state economy themselves. This makes no sense in that state money is just as good as federal money. The State of Arizona wants to fund the Grand Canyon NP with state money and have not been allowed to, Why, just to punish the public? The president has stated that ‘he will not negotiate this funding issue, and that he must get all he wants or will veto any bill he gets. Harry Reed has said that he will not consider any funding bill but a single one funding everything he wants. The only working part of government is the House that has passed funding bills for several critical departments, like the National Park Service, All veteran’s agencies, The Post Office, and many other government agencies deemed important. The President is spending his time, not leading an effort at a solution to the problem, but name calling and campaigning. He, as the leader should be getting the house and senate together for negotiations and holding them there until the issue gets solved, but seems to prefer to be absent from the problem. Harry Reed should be trying to work with John Baener to come up with a compromise that both can live with, but says, until I get just what I want I will not bring house bills to a vote. Another words, since the President, and the Senate leader refuse to negotiate and are absent from sorking on the problem, it make no since for the House to stay in session negotiating with itself. Baener should just recess the house until such time as the president calls for a negotiating session that includes the three branches of government together. The house is trying to open up the government for work, the President and Senate are standing firm to keep it shut down.
