The spiritual gifts are gifts to the church as a whole. They havent been rescinded or taken away. Gods gifts and callings are without repentance. We need the power of God operating in our daily lives, both in ministry and sanctification. We have been giving both power and authority (Greek words dunamis and exousia) whether or not we allow God to fully operate in our lives on the level that He desires is wholly up to us, for He wont violate our free will. At the same time, do not allow anyone to rob you of your blessings by attempting to convince you that you dont need to fullness of God. Disclaimer- the gifts are not foolishness! I fully understand the hesitancy of some to accept any portion of spiritual gifts, because they have set back and witnessed many people abuse them and walk in foolishness. For every diamond, there are a hundred cubic zirconias, for every once of gold, theres a ton of pyrite. Dont allow foolishness of others to keep you from finding that precious pearl that God desires to give you! Taste and see that The Lord is good!...
