The start to the Hero ISL could not have been better. Beautiful goals, high tempo football for the most part (in such humidity levels), a jam-packed stadium (we all expected that from Kolkata, didnt we :P ), and a physical side to the game Indian football has not witnessed before (the tackles had wings, literally flying). After all three goals, the crowd went nuts, but even more pleasing was the fact that the foreign players went bananas as well which increases the credibility of the league. Beating Atleti at Kolkata will be a hard task, to say the very least. And regarding all the hate for the footage the celebrities received- I felt that an average Indian who is a noob to the game needs the big names from bollywood to be backing football (increases credibility). For serious football fans like us, it might be an annoyance, but I think its necessary. Im all in favor of anything that popularizes the sport. P.S.- Lets pledge to publicize the league among friends and family. Lets show everyone, that we are more than just a cricketing nation. Lets give birth to a new footballing power. Lets football!
